Scholarships

 

The Illinois AMVETS Service Foundation supports a scholarship program each year that provides graduating Illinois High School students a scholarship for their continued education.
Scholarships should be postmarked by March 1st. For questions, email Crystal@ilamvets.org.

ILLINOIS AMVETS SERVICE FOUNDATION VETERANS SCHOLARSHIPS
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UP TO $2,000.00 RENEWABLE

To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must:

  1. Veteran with a permanent Illinois address.
  2. Honorably Discharged
  3. Enrolled as a full-time student 2 or 4-year College or University, Vocational or Technical School in Illinois. Student does not need to be a freshman.

Renewability:
May reapply annually up to 4 consecutive years in addition to the following have been met:

  • Proof of full-time status
  • Copy of current transcripts maintain an overall if at least a 3.0 GPA

ILLINOIS AMVETS SERVICE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

ONE-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS FOR $1,000.00 NON-RENEWABLE


To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must:

  1. Be an Illinois High School Senior
  2. Have taken the ACT or SAT
  3. Child or grandchild of a veteran or active-duty

ILLINOIS AMVETS SAD SACKS NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS

ONE-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS - AMOUNT VARIES YEARLY


To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must:

  1. Be an Illinois High School Senior who has been accepted into a pre-approved nursing program (A copy of an acceptance letter must accompany the application.) or may already be a student in an approved School of Nursing in the State of Illinois
  2. Prove satisfactory in academic record, character, interest and activity record, and financial need.
  3. Priority will be given to the dependent of a deceased or disabled Veteran.

ILLINOIS AMVETS JUNIOR ROTC SCHOLARSHIPS

ONE-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS FOR $1,000.00 NON-RENEWABLE

 
To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must:

  1. Be an Illinois High School Senior
  2. Have taken the ACT or SAT
  3. Participate in a Junior ROTC program
  4. Child or grandchild of a veteran or active duty

ONE-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS FOR $1,000.00 NON-RENEWABLE


To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must:

  1. Be an Illinois High School Senior who has been accepted in a pre-approved trade school program. (A copy of an acceptance letter must accompany the application.)
  2. Child or grandchild of a veteran or active duty

ILLINOIS AMVETS LADIES AUXILIARY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

ONE-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS - AMOUNT VARIES YEARLY


To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must:

  1. Be a Illinois High School Senior
  2. Be a child or grandchild of a Veteran of the United States of America who served after September 15, 1940 and was Honorably Discharged or who is presently serving in the military.
  3. Have taken the ACT or SAT

ILLINOIS AMVETS LADIES AUXILIARY WORCHID SCHOLARSHIPS

 ONE-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS - AMOUNT VARIES YEARLY


To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must:

  1. Be a Illinois High School Senior
  2. Be a child of a deceased father or mother who was a Veteran of the United States of America who served after September 15, 1940, and was Honorably Discharged. They need not be killed in action or died as a result of a service-connected disability.
  3. Have taken the ACT or SAT

FREEDOM FOUNDATION APPLICATION


Since 1987, AMVETS has offered this unique educational experience at the
Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, to give young people a
better appreciation of their freedoms granted by the United States
Constitution. The Illinois AMVETS Service Foundation annually selects
deserving high school students to attend this event representing Illinois
AMVETS and its members. Students must be at least a sophomore grade level.
Cost of flight, registration fees are paid for by the Illinois AMVETS
Service Foundation.

This is a four day conference held November 3-6, 2016 centering on topics
such as freedom, civil rights and civic responsibilities, citizenship,
public policy, self-development and leadership, entrepreneurship and salient
aspects of American history. Programs allow students to explore within
themselves their interpersonal characteristics and leadership potential
through leadership skills workshops, group skills activities, and
discussions with fellow participants. Programs are designed to provide an
opportunity for students to participate in discussions with authoritative
and articulate representatives from government, industry, and the academic
community. Freedom Foundation Applications must be postmarked by July 15th.
